Quando la Svezia incontra il Madagascar. Un duo che propone standard jazz rifatti in chiave moderna e per chitarra e voce. L'uso delle percussioni dell'Africa arricchisce di vibrazioni esotiche alcuni degli standard più amati nella storia del jazz. Il duo tiene concerti in tutta la Francia e nei paesi scandinavi. Hanno da poco inciso un album con standard e brani originali.

INGLESE Having her origins from Madagascar , Isa Rabaraona spent her childhood surrounded by music, with brothers and sisters who performed as singers and instumentalists.    She made her first recording at the age of 14, and nurtured her vocal style through her many stage performances while continuing her studies at the University of Ankatso in Antananarivo Then she moved to France, and many projects leaded her to go on touring and to feature at "l'Olympia" (Paris) in 1993.But she decided to work on the arrangements of her compositions and to confirm her choice for jazz and brazilian music.  Amongst the musicians she worked with, the swedish guitarist Linus Olsson had the same objectives as her: there came new projects and so they often work together as a duo The "Malmöfestivalen" ( Malmö , Sweden ), and the Hesingborg Jazz Festival  revealed to Isa that Sweden would be a new home for her. After Herbie Hancock, McCoy tyner, Kenny Werner and Richie Beirach, she is admirative when listening to the pianist Lars Jansson In 2005 she produces "Infant Eyes", a duo album with Linus Olsson, which is a glimpse to Wayne Shorter's writings, one of her favorite mentors. This CD features harmonicist Olivier Ker Ourio, bassist Jean Marc Jaffet (of "Trio Sud"), and drummer Max Miguel. As she lives in France , she has mostly composed lyrics in French.    Isa Rabaraona empphasizes on her malagasy culture influences when she plays Udu and other percussion naturally. With her first instrument, her voice, she feels free to experience tunes to and fro, so that everything musically can happen in time and in space. What she feels appears clearly in her voice, and brings to it different scales and colours That's why Isa Rabaraona is one of those unexpected talents amongst the female jazz vocalists

 

FRANCESE Madagascar est son pays d'origine, et Isa Rabaraona enregistre son premier disque à l'âge de quatorze ans. Elle grandit dans une famille où la musique et le chant sont au coeur de la vie quotidienne. Ses frères et soeurs sont devenus célèbres en Europe, Les Surfs, et pour le préciser, Isa n'en faisait pas partie n'étant encore qu'une enfant, onzième de cette famille de douze Isa Rabaraona expérimente la scène et en fait son site favori tout en continuant ses études en lettres anglaises à l'Université d'Ankatso, à Antananarivo. Pour diverses raisons , elle décide de s'installer en France : projets et perspectives l'emmènent à partir en tournée, s'en suivent des concerts dont l'Olympia en 1993. Puis elle travaille ses compositions et un répertoire jazz et brésilien avec des musiciens confirmés Isa joue de la guitare dès son plus jeune âge, mais commence tardivement à prendre des cours de piano. Sa rencontre avec le guitariste suédois Linus Olsson est décisif: ils participent au Malmöfestivalen (Malmö, Suède), en août 2003 où ils affirment leurs affinités pour la musique brésilienne, puis au Helsingborg Jazz Festival. Pour elle commence alors les allées et venues en Suède, et elle en fait son troisième pays. Après Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner, Kenny Werner et Richie Beirach, elle reste admirative en écoutant le pianiste Lars Jansson et d'autres grands musiciens suédois En 2005, Isa enregistre et produit un album-duo "Infant Eyes", un clin d'oeil pour les oeuvres de Wayne Shorter qui reste un de ses mentors. En duo dans cet album figure Linus Olsson, et des invités de taille: l'harmoniciste Olivier Ker Ourio, le bassiste Jean Marc Jaffet (de Trio Sud), et le batteur Max Miguel Isa confirme sa personnalité façonnée par les rythmes malgaches en maniant avec dextérité les percussions comme le Udu. Avec son premier instrument de musique qui est sa voix, elle ne mesure ni l'espace ni le temps, pourvu que l'expression soit profonde, et que la technique soit le fruit d'une constante recherche dans la matière sonore C'est son effervescence qui apporte la tessiture à sa voix, et qui fait de Isa Rabaraona une des chanteuses de jazz exceptionnelles

 

The Italian Sax Ensemble

L' Italian Sax Ensemble è una tra le più autorevoli formazioni orchestrali nel panorama jazzistico italiano. Essa rappresenta a pieno titolo, grazie al notevole affiatamento perfezionato in anni di attività comune e alla sua spiccata individualità che si esprime in un formidabile senso dello swing e in un sound inconfondibile, l'alto livello raggiunto dal Jazz italiano. Oltre agli invidiabili curricula artistici personali dei suoi componenti, con collaborazioni sempre di altissimo libello realizzate in ogni parte del mondo, la compagine vanta una esperienza di ensemble maturata all'interno della più importante orchestra jazz d'Italia, la Big Band di Gianni Basso, con la quale in oltre vent'anni di attività ha accompagnato solisti del calibro di Slide Hampton, Alvin Queen, Dusko Goykovich, Benny Bailey, Lee Konitz, Tony Scott, Johnny Griffin, Scott Hamilton. "Playin' the Giants" è il titolo del lavoro discografico recentemente pubblicato dalla band e ne riassume le qualità in modo pregnante: uno stile originale e nello stesso tempo legato alla grande tradizione del jazz, una sezione dei saxofoni con un sound di grande classe e con uno swing impeccabile sul quale si sviluppano gli a solo dei suoi componenti, eccellenti solisti, e degli ospiti internazionali invitati. La formazione ha partecipato a festival internazionali quali Eurojazz Festival di Ivrea, Due Laghi Jazz Festival e Piemonte Clubbing (XX Giochi Olimpici Invernali Torino 2006), collaborando con Gianni Basso, Franco Cerri, Sangoma Everett, Tom Kirkpatrick (con il quale ha realizzato il CD "Playin' the Giants" ), Phil Woods (con il quale è stato realizzato un CD in via di pubblicazione) e Dusko Goykovich, Con quest'ultimo grande solista è nato un progetto di collaborazione stabile che vedrà la realizzazione di un tour europeo e la pubblicazione di un nuovo lavoro discografico
